Mahidol University hold a contest ‘Mahidol AI Hackathon’ under the topic ‘AI for Library Services’
Saturday, March 18, 2023- Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat Director of the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (iNT), and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopphon Pausawasdi, Director of Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, co-chaired the opening ceremony of a contest, ‘Mahidol AI Hackathon,’ under the topic ‘AI for Library Services’ at Faculty of Information and Communication Technology building, Mahidol University. Dr. Apipoo Sittipoommongkol, Deputy Director of Educational Technology and Special Affairs, participated in this event as a committee. After the opening ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr. Prapat Suriyaphol, Deputy Director of Information Technology and Innovation Development; Mr.Sarun Thamtuksin; and Ms.Mukkarin Klunpukdee, Information Resource Analysts of Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, were lecturers on the topic, ‘Library Services and Case Studies.’
Sunday, March 19, 2023- Asst. Prof. Dr. Prapat Suriyaphol, Deputy Director of Information Technology and Innovation Development; Dr. Apipoo Sittipoommongkol, Deputy Director of Educational Technology and Special Affairs; Mrs. Rakchanok Khamprathom, Head of Information and Educational Technology Division; and Acting Sub Lt. Sikharin Suwannatee, Computer Information Analyst, Senior Professional Level, of Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, were honored to be judges of this contest. In addition, we were honored to have Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopphon Pausawasdi, Director of Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center to present 7 awards as follows:
The winner- Team ‘Sai Pai Mow Mow Gor Dai’ from Faculty of Science
The first runner-up- Team ‘MIRU-MICHI’ from Faculty of Information and Communication Technology
The second runner-up- Team ‘Palanamai’ from Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital
3 Honorable mentions- Team ‘Neo Librarians’ from International College, Team ‘Hay Day’ from Faculty of Science, and Team ‘Yellow Duck’ from Faculty of Information and Communication Technology
Surprise Award- Team ‘Insomnia’ from International College
Iron Man Award- Team ‘Neo Librarians’ from International College
This event, ‘Mahidol AI Hackathon,’ is a collaboration between Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (INT), and Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, Mahidol University. The objective of the event is to brainstorm on designing and creating new innovation by using up-to-date Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for library service administration related other issues such as using library user data for marketing or studying user’s behavior of borrowing book, recommending books for users, and developing and supporting library service innovation. As mentioned, it is for responding to Thailand 4.0 technology changes effectively. The event was held on 18th-19th May 2023, and there were 15 teams of Mahidol University students from 5 faculties: Faculty of Information and Communication, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Faculty of Science, and International College joined the contest.
