Borrowing Rules
– Library members can borrow books from the library service counter of each library.
– The number of books and the borrowing period are subject to the library’s borrowing regulations.
– Certain types of library resources, such as reference books, journals, and newspapers, cannot be borrowed or taken outside the library.
– Borrowers must present a valid library membership card or display a Library Barcode from the We Mahidol Application.
Applying for membership
– Applications can be processed at the Library Service Counter of your affiliated library
– Alternatively, you may apply online through the Library Membership Application Form
Categories of Membership
1. Ordinary members – staff, students, medical residents, and short-term international students
2. Extraordinary members – special instructors and special operators
3. Associate members
3.1 Associate member type 1 – alumni, Member of Mahidol University Alumni Association, and retiree.
For other cases, the Director will determine on a case-by-case basis. Other eligibility is subject to the Library Director’s discretion.
3.2 Associate member type 2 – non-university person intending to apply for membership.
Associate member Type 2: Individual external researchers or community members.
3.3 Associate member type 3 – non-university organization intending to apply for membership.
3.4 Associate member type 4 – students/participants in special projects.
4. Honorary Member – University Council Committee and patron. The Director will determine on
a case-by-case basis. University Council members and individuals who have made significant contributions to the library. Appointment is at the Library Director’s discretion.

Library Fines
• Library users should return books on time.
• Users who return books late will pay an overdue fine and will be prevented from borrowing books if the fine is more than 100 Baht. A fine will be different depending on the type of book and loan period.
• Users of the library must immediately inform the library service counter about any lost or damaged books and either purchase a replacement, pay a processing charge of 200 Baht, or pay a fine for book repair.

Library users can renew books in many ways:
• Self-renewal online via https://www.li.mahidol.ac.th/eng/patroninfo
• Make a call to the library service counter where the books were borrowed.
• Go to the library service counter with the borrowed books.

Request for placing a hold on a library book
Library members are able to browse the collection, request an item online, and place a hold on it in
case another member has already borrowed the wanted book.

Book Delivery Service
There is a library service for borrowing resources between Mahidol University Libraries. Members of
Faculty/Institute libraries can make a request for Book Delivery Service using an online form.

A service sending requested documents in electronic form via email is provided by the library.

Interlibrary Loan Service
A library service allows library users to access materials and submit a request for copies of
papers from local and international libraries. Members can use the service by completing a request
form. Please contact ILL service staff or a librarian for more information.
